Same here, Mayday is a major reason why I got into comics and growing up she was my hero and a role model.

Over at the Spider-Girl Message Board, Ron Frenz has posted more concept art, model sheets and reveal some interesting info on the series.

Mayday model sheets:

Originally, Amazing Spider-girl was going to start with May having long hair, suggesting her time off, then having May cut her hair to signify getting back “in harness”.
But Tom,Sal,I,you guys,and most importantly,Molly all liked the long look so much it stayed.

I wanted them to find out they were cousins, I think he knew but she should have known dammit.

So many unresolved stuff in this comic, seriously.

The last panels always get me, because after Steve dies and everyone mourns, Spider-Girl runs to her dad, Rina runs to her dad, and then you realize just how alone Shanon is in that panel now that Steve is gone.

Because even though Steve wasn’t her father, for awhile he was the closest thing she had.
