Ok, this is really cool. Most GI Joe fans know that Larry Hama’s inmortal Marvel run started out as a pitch for “Fury Force”, about a squad of commandos lead by Nick Fury’s son. The pitch didn’t go through, but the plots (and apparently, much of the characters) ended up being retooled once Marvel got the licence to do GI Joe comics. And the rest is history.
But this is my first time seeing some actual concept art for it, and wow. This looks like it could’ve been tons of fun. Even with those 80s as all Hell MAC-10s. Source right here.

Martin (who, at that age, had yet to earn his second “R”) wrote to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in feigned praise of Fantastic Four #17, an issue he refers to, dryly, as “greater than great… absolutely stupendous, the ultimate, utmost!” Proving that even as a boy, GRRM was an acerbic, 65-year-old man.
