Check out Marvel on Project Runway: Under the Gunn tonight at 9 PM ET on Lifetime! More: http://bit.ly/1or1Sk8
Aaron, Alonso & Brevoort are on the case in the murder mystery of the Watcher — and everyone is a suspect.
Things that got my attention, anyway since I can’t put this in a cut I’ll be speculating about some stuff so don’t get angry at me if it turns out I am correct!
Brevoort describes it as different from other Marvel events, because once this sort of “information detonation” goes on and the frst wave of secrets get released, it will set off a multitude of stories that are going to affect various Marvel characters “in a very personal and very dramatic way.” Brevoort describes this as both the “N.S.A. leak of the Marvel Universe” as well as the TMZ of the Marvel Universe, speaking to hidden weaknesses and hidden indiscretions.
Everyone’s dirty laundry gets hung out to dry the Event! I can see the drama now.
“Secrets that involve Spider-Man will lead to stories in the Spider-Man titles,” Brevoort says, elaborating that secrets involving other characters will be expanded on in tie-in issues as well. In Spider-Man for example, readers will learn a second person was bitten by the radioactive spider which gave Peter Parker his powers.
Wasn’t there already a story like that except the person died really badly? Or am I just hallucinating said story? But eeehh this hardly seems exciting since we have like six spider people running around (I am probably exasperating but there’s a lot) so we really don’t need one more person.
“Cap will learn someone close to him has tampered with his memories,” Brevoort reveals, “and will have siesmic effect on Cap’s relationship with popele around him while at forefront of tracking down who left this dead body on the moon. “
Looks like the shit will hit the vibranium shield and Steve will finally find out about what the Illuminati did to him. Prepare for paranoid distrustful Steve, maybe he’ll quit the Avengers? (don’t worry he’ll be back by the time the 2nd movie comes out) . Also prepare for the 30afdue44Zrjr9j839_(#%7477365th Tony and Steve break up (oh and him being mad at those other people like Namor and T’challa who were also kind of important to him but I guess everyone else will forget)
Ugh it’s going to be an awful year for Steve what with this and Remender making him even more miserable (read May’s solicit for Cap).
"All of the Original Sin tie-ins will show things being revealed that will have long-term effects on the characters, and how they look at themselves in the mirror and how others look at them,” says Alonso. “Will see at least one instance where a hidden part of the past will change how two Marvel characters look at each other forever.”
Someone will end up being someone’s grandpa/grandma! But in all due seriousness it seems like they’ll be messing with origin stories and I am not too keen on that since it could turn out to be really good or it could make things awful.
Aaron says one of the “funnest” part of writing Original Sin is the unusual pairings and out-of-the-way places he’s going in this event series. Aaron does say the cast isn’t happenstance however; they were all chosen for very specific feasons, to cover all the bases in the Marvel Universe.
"It’s pushing a lot of characters outside thier comfotrt zone," Brevoort adds. "There is something neat with Punisher talking about ballistics directions in the Dark Dimension."
This is what I am looking forward to the most, I like odd couple pairings and seeing characters who normally don’t team up in the same comic talking to each other and fighting side by side is really exciting. Like Punisher and Doctor Strange (both whom I think have teamed up before in one occasion) are both from two very different genres so seeing them together is pretty cool.
Then there’s some speculation about Nick Fury Sr. dying but Aaron will not say anything P:
As far as the Thor: God of Thunder series, Brevoort says that there’s a “big juicy secret that’ll land on his head” and will run through both Thor’s solo series as well as Loki: Agent of Asgard.
I am willing to bet all my bacon that Thor will find about Kid Loki’s death! What other big secret can Thor know that will involve a crossover with Loki’s comic? Besides the Loki writer already hinted that Thor would know at some point, what better time for him then this event which is about secrets coming out in the light.
Meanwhile I am just going to dread that moment, Loki and Thor’s happiness never lasts (besides it’s only fair someone other than his killer mourns Kid Loki and having that person be Thor who loved him dearly is the least that is owe to him).
