My thoughts on JiM

OKAY SO I HAD TO GO TO THE GYM BECAUSE MUSCLES ARE BOSS AND ALSO I’M JOINING THE NATIONAL JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS AT SCHOOL. AND I DON’T WANT TO LOOK LIKE A WEENIE WHO CAN’T DO A PUSH-UP

SO I COULDN’T TALK ABOUT SIF

BUT NOW I CAN 

Okay, so

I know there’s a huge split in the fandom

-on one hand we have the Loki fans who don’t want Loki to go

-on the other hand we have our fans who are excited for Sif because FEMALE CHARACTER, FEMALE WRITER, CHARACTER THAT USUALLY DOESN’T GET HER OWN STORYLINES FUCK YEAH 

-and on one hand we have our people who don’t like Sif but not because Loki 

In case you couldn’t tell, I am partial to the middle statement. Why?

  • Marvel has had an extreme lack of titles with female leads. With this title, we now have at least three titles announced/on-going with leading ladies: Red She-Hulk (Betty Ross is taking over the Red Hulk title soon), Captain Marvel, and now JiM. Not to mention, we have FF, a team of four that will feature Medusa, Miss Thing, She-Hulk, and Ant-Man. That’s three women on a team of four. Giving ladies titles is always a good thing if they’re handled well (though it’d be nice if there were more POC, but that’s another post)
  • Sif doesn’t have a lot of character development at this point. With the exception of Simonson and DeConnick, most writers don’t really do Sif justice. Even then, correct me if I’m wrong, we still don’t know much about Sif’s origins (besides she grew up with Thor). Giving Sif her own on-going title is a great way to explore her character more thoroughly and give her some awesome character development. 
  • “BUT NOW LOKI IS GONE”
  • no
  • stop
  • Loki is either A) dying. Get over it. He’ll come back, it’s a comic book. B) Going to another title. Didn’t we see Adi Granov teaser art of him, Wiccan, and Miss America Chavez? If that happens, FUCK YEAH. C) We’re getting older!Loki back, meaning he’ll prob either go to Thor: God of Thunder or disappear for awhile cuz he does that. 
  • Female writer! It’s always cool to see ladies in the comic book industry. It really shows that, hey, white males aren’t the only ones who read comics!
  • The artist ain’t too bad! Check out his stuff!

So yeah

Feel free to have your own opinions, we can’t all agree

but I am personally VERY excited for this title

OMG that’s the TMNT artist! I am totally supporting JiM with Sif even more now.

You said pretty much what is on my mind about Sif.

Also good luck on the NJROTC! Tell me how that goes.
