I guess this was just a switching weapons cover but I can’t help but think of how much that shield means to Nate. Because somewhere in the future during his war with Apocalypse, Nate is going to find that shield and it will serve as a symbol of freedom and morale to the rebellion against Apocalypse’s forces. As a matter in fact he also mentions that he lost his arm trying to retrieve that shield.
